FAQ – FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
About the workshops
When will signups for workshops open?
On 7 Feb, you can sign up for the Unrevealed Workshops ( = big discount for signing up without knowing teacher & topic). On 14 Feb, the workshop schedule and cast will be revealed.
What if I want to be sure that I can take a particular workshop with a particular teacher?
That’s no problem, just wait until the workshop schedule is revealed on 14 Feb. You just won’t have the Unrevealed discount.
But what if I want the discount?
I see a loophole! I can sign up for the Unrevealed and later sell my workshop spot to someone else. Right?
Eh, no. Workshops bought at the Unrevealed price cannot be sold to someone else. No loopholes, just top notch workshops for a low price.
What is the Ensemble and how does it work?
On Feb 14, we open applications to be part of this years Ensemble. The idea is to work for 3 days with a group of 10 improvisers from all around, guided by an experienced international improviser to create a brand new format and perform it at the festival!
Can I perform this format afterwards?
Usually when you learn a format from someone, there are different approaches to the rights of use. But in this case, the goal is for all participants to have full rights of use of the format you will create: that way you can bring it back to your community, keep exploring it and use it freely!
What if I'm selected in the Ensemble and I had signed up for a workshop at the same time?
If that is the case, we will obviously make an exception and refund you the workshop you had signed up for before your selection. That way you can secure your spot in the workshop, and also apply if you are excited!
About the shows
Is there a festival pass for the shows?
Yes! Like any self-respecting festival there is a pass to watch all 21 shows with a discount.
For 100€ you get access to the 7 evenings of shows, as well as a bunch of other advantages!
How can I perform at the Flock Festival?
We have multiple workshops with a showcase. And a very exciting 3-day project for experienced improvisers.
About the festival’s logistics
Where will the festival take place?
We will host the festival in Amsterdam-Noord and more specifically in the amazing artistic area of NDSM.
All the shows will be held at Treehouse NDSM, and the workshops in the vicinity. The perfect way to discover Amsterdam with some sun and friends!
How about accommodation?
We have got a partnership in the neighbourhood to offer passes with accommodation! We will be hosted at the Amsterdam Farm Lodge.
We offer different options for the duration of the festival:
- Multi-Room: shared bedrooms with 2 to 5 other improvisers visiting the festival.
- Duo-Room: shared bedrooms with 1 other improviser visiting the festival.
- Solo-Room: a bedroom just for you, with the option to add a person to share your bed for a small fee if you come with a partner or a close friend.
For all these options, they are situated in little apartments—where the cast will be hosted as well—composed of a kitchen, common space and a maximum of 3 bedrooms.
It is always possible to indicate who you would like to be accommodated with.
All accommodation offers are subject to availability—a few extra options might be offered later—and need to be booked before March 14th.
What if I already booked my pass and want to get accommodation for the festival?
The accommodation options are offered only for pass holders, which is why the packages are tied.
So if you have already booked a pass and would like to add the accommodation option, just send us an email and we’ll add you to the accommodation list!
The prices remaining to pay will be:
- €650 for a Solo-Room spot (€92/night)
- €400 for a Duo-Room spot (€57/night)
- €340 for a Multi-Room spot (€48/night)
These prices include the Amsterdam Tourist Tax of 12,5%.
Can I book a shorter time than the entire festival?
Because of the nature of the partnership, we can’t offer shorter times for now. But even if you stay only 5 or 6 nights instead of 7, the price per night stay very reasonable compared to what Amsterdam has to offer!
If you are planning on arriving later than Monday, feel free to book and let us know, or to send us an email. Depending on availability and demand, we might put up more options.
What if I would like another accommodation?
Amsterdam-Noord is full of little hotels, hostels and other accommodation, so feel free to look around!
We tried to strike a good partnership with the Amsterdam Farm Lodge, but there are other options around. A fairly cheap option not very far is the Camping Vliegenbos: they have options for tents, but also little cabins that are possible to rent.
