It is wonderful to witness an effortlessly flowing story (stories) when two people are connected and trusting each other to go deeper and get a little more vulnerable in their work. This often evokes a variety of emotions on stage as well as in the audience. Duo improv can go beyond our wildest imagination as long as we trust it and each other.
This workshop will be about connecting with a duopartner, creating dynamic scenes with two people (and multiple characters), exploring different worlds, editing techniques, stage picture and the over all style of a duo show.
You can take this workshop with an existing duo partner or sign up solo and explore the possibilities and the world of duo improv with fellow workshop participants!
Previous experience required (intermediate to experienced) – can be new to duo improv!
A try-out is planned on Sunday afternoon: you will be able to perform a short version of your duo in front of the other participants and a few extra people, in order to get a first stage-experience with the material you worked on during the weekend. This will be integrated in the duration of the workshop.

Kaisa Kokko-Palmer
Kaisa Kokko-Palmer (she/her) has improvised for nearly two decades, both in Finland and around the world. Kaisa has a masters degree in education and has studied Improvisational theatre under the guidance of dozens of leading professionals both abroad and in Finland. Kaisa has directed and coached many groups, ensembles and theater companies in Finland and beyond.
Nowadays she travels the world teaching and directing improvised work and runs Impro Helsinki (founded with Sara Palmer), a school dedicated to the art of improvisation in Helsinki, Finland.
Sara Palmer
Sara Palmer (she/her) started her improv career 10 years ago in the United States. Sara has experience in improvisational theatre with countless performances and festivals both in the United States and abroad. Sara has studied improvisation at the Torch Theater in Phoenix, as well as under the direction of many of the best improv teachers in the field.
Nowadays Sara resides in Finland where she founded Impro Helsinki together with Kaisa Kokko-Palmer. Sara has coached long form improv teams, including formats such as Harold and Armando and has taught creative writing. Along with improvising, Sara is also an experienced writer and storyteller.
