Narrative musical longform – 2-day workshop
A 2-day workshop in long-form musical and narrative improvisation, coached by Lucy Trodd and Jordan Paul Clarke of the Olivier Award-winning Showstopper! The Improvised Musical, the first long-form improvised show to run in London’s West End.
You will develop and hone skills in areas such as character-building, storytelling and narrative, acting whilst improvising, complex and genre-based songs, and improvised choreography. Pattern recognition and connection is key!
This workshop is open to all levels.
Saturday March 22 — 10:00 to 16:00 (1h lunch break) and Sunday March 23 — 11:30 to 17:30 (1h lunch break)

Lucy Trodd
Lucy Trodd is a writer-performer with an extensive background in comedy and improvisation. She is a founder member of Olivier Award-winning Showstopper! The Improvised Musical, in which she has regularly appeared around the globe and in the West End of London for over 16 years.
She co-wrote and performed two sketch comedy series of “Well Done You!” for NBC/BBC Radio 4 and was a finalist in the BBC Audio Awards for Best Scripted Comedy. Writing in partnership with Susan Harrison, she was a winner of the British Comedy Guide Sitcom Competition, was a Finalist in the Funny Women Awards and their radio pilot just aired on BBC R4. She regularly teaches and facilitates in business and creative circles. Lucy designed and ran The Improv Academy for Cardboard Citizens, worked with primary school children for NEON Summer School and has taught in drama schools including Guildford School of Acting. She helps run the Showstopper! Improvers, Returners and Intensive courses.
She attended her first international festival in 2024 at IMPRO Amsterdam and went on to perform at Momenta in Leipzig, directing her first improv show REUNITED: The Band. Inspired by the festival can-do attitude, she set up FiT (Folkestone Improv Theatre) in her hometown to bring improv joy to the locals.
Jordan Paul Clarke
Jordan Paul Clarke trained in Composition at The Royal Academy of Music, and is an award-winning writer, composer, musical director and improviser.
He’s a musical director of Olivier Award Winning Showstopper: The Improvised Musical [“incredible… defies belief” The Telegraph], and has toured with multi-award winning Mischief Theatre (Olivier-Nominated Mischief Movie Night). His original musicals include: Happy at Waterloo Vaults and The Kings Head [“profound, modern theatre at its best” Boyz], Building Paulus (UK Tour), Friday Night Sinner at Soho Theatre [“would do Mel Brooks proud” Chortle] [“flawless music” Musical Theatre Review], and Angry Salmon at Theatre Royal Plymouth [“is it really all about salmon?” Claude-Michel Schönberg].

Current projects include Raising Gays, a musical about parents of queer folk.
