2-day intensive: Teaching Improv

Do you enjoy doing improv? And would you like to teach in it? But do you wonder if you are “good” enough or experienced enough?

Would you like to feel more confident as an improvisation teacher? Expand your knowledge about improv and teaching and discover your own style?

Then this is for you!

In this two-day intensive, I will work with you to lay a solid foundation for you as a (new) improv teacher.

During this weekend, I will take you by the hand and we will talk about topics such as:

  • how to get started;
  • what to teach;
  • how to design a lesson;
  • how to deal with difficult situations;
  • what price to charge;
  • how to maneuver themes such as inclusivity;
  • etc.

In short, the full basics (and more) will be covered.
We’ll get to work with exercises, examples, tips, and assignments in a wonderful group of participants, who you can also keep in touch with afterward.

My goal is for you to feel confident, enthusiastic and well-prepared at the end of this weekend.

What I like about Laura’s approach is that it is aimed at developing your own style of teaching.
Also her personality is uplifting and gives you positive vibes to just start.

Nice to meet you!

My name is Laura (she/her) and I am the train-the-trainer trainer 😉

I live in Amsterdam and have traveled a fair bit around the world. Alone and since a few years with Gael, my improvising (French) husband. Together we run Flock Theatre.

I love stories in all forms (theater, film, books), pets, colored post-its, evenings, podcasts, journaling, feminism, activism, saying “Yes!” and “RIGHT?” and I have little patience for queuing.

My background is in theater, dance, directing, playwriting, business studies, corporate training and I used to run my own theater school.

I have been teaching for over 20 years, and Flock Theatre is starting its 5th season. So basically, I am a full-time improviser, working locally and internationally. I’m happy to share my glorious mistakes, helpful strategies and even how much I earn.

I am organizing this two-day event because I would like more different types of people to start teaching improv. That’s why I designed the online course “Teaching Improv With Confidence” in 2020 with a total of 69 international participants in 3 rounds.

This is the second iteration of the live weekend, but the first live one in English.

My teaching style is positive, ambitious, pragmatic and compassionate. And yes, I really am an improvisation nerd.

I look forward to spending this weekend with you!

I had no experience teaching before I started.
Laura’s course helped me see that -instead of just ‘learning something about teaching improvisation’-I actually got the feeling that I could actually start doing it.
