De l’impro en français à Amsterdam ? Oui, le groupe d’élèves de Flock Theatre est de retour sur les planches avec encore plus d’histoires rocambolesques, de personnages surprenants et d’aventures à vous faire ressentir toutes les émotions possibles. Sous la direction de David Kühling, vient assister à ce spectacle fabuleux !

Film & Improv by Flock Students

Movies and improvised theatre have a lot in common, and can also inspire each other greatly. We have seen on stage adaptations of genres, but what about movies that use improvisation to be created? That’s the case for the films from directors Taïka Waïtiti and Greta Gerwig: by using improv, they succeed to create a quirk and whimsy that is both fresh and relatable. Christianna Tsigkou has taught all she knew to this group of students that will produce a gorgeous show inspired by this work!

Backgammon by Ela&Yala

An Iranian and a Greek sit down to play a game of Backgammon. What follows is a slow-burn show full of personal stories, traditions, gossip, family values and strong emotions dipped in traditional music and seasoned with Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern spices. Leave all prejudice at the door!

Ela&Yala met in Amsterdam in 2020 at a silent improv class. What brings them together is their mutual love for exploring improv through the lens of their cultural background which they hold very close to their hearts. They’ve developed a thirst to bring on stage those everyday characters that they know all too well from growing up in Greece and Iran and let them tell their stories, stories that we don’t usually see on an improv stage and are so unique but also deeply relatable.

Tanine Dunais and Christianna Tsigkou between them share more than 10 years of improv experience, including participating in festivals and teaching workshops.

MORE ABOUT THE FLOCK FESTIVAL

These shows are part of the first-ever Flock Festival, a summery festival with some of the best improvised theatre you have ever seen! ☀️

From 24-30th of June, we will have a 7-day theatre festival in Amsterdam-Noord where you can enjoy 21 shows, and 14 workshops from 12 incredible international teachers.

Anyone is welcome to enjoy the full 7 days of festival activities (including our beautiful accommodation, food, drinks, hangouts), or to just see 1 evening of shows, or anything in between.

For the festival, we at Flock Theatre bring back our most popular productions (The Matrix, Transperceneige, and The True North), with a new cast of international players.
