The Ultimate Flock Course

In this course, we combine everything Flock is known for. Training solid narrative longform skills for theatrical improv, then rehearsing for a performance in a particular genre, to eventually show it on stage multiple times. With a dedicated group, over a longer period of time.

Honestly, it’s not for everyone.

But if this sounds awesome to you, and you bring the right experience and committed attitude, then this is an epic adventure.

You will get the full experience of a Flock production: being taught, directed and receiving feedback by Flock’s co-director Laura (and sometimes Gael). You will improve your scene work, deepen your longform skills, learn how to interact with music, dive into a genre, build an ensemble, and perform a brand-new show in a small cast (max. 6).

At Flock Theatre, we have a long history of producing shows in genre, such as sexy hospital drama, dark portal fantasy, sci-fi action, romcom, and post-apocalyptic zombie slasher. Traditionally, we auditioned and selected a cast to train for months. Now, this is available as a 24-week course.

This course is designed for players with a few or many years of practice (also on stage) in longform improv, De Vloer Op or other scene-based formats. Unsure? Reach out!

(If you have only done shortform and games, I highly recommend you check out the Familiar & Strange course.)

This course is a great fit for those who love to commit: showing up to most / all classes, arriving on time, and making some time for (fun) genre homework.

What is when?
September – November: training in solid narrative longform skills
November – December: preparation of mid-season showcase on 8 December
December – January: decision on genre for final production, diving into a few movies, series, podcasts, etc.
January – February: genre-specific training
February – March : preparation of final production, e.g. costumes, set, etc.

There will be no class on 13 Oct, 3 Nov, 22 Dec, 29 Dec, 5 Jan and 23 Feb. There is a mid-course showcase planned on 8 December. The final production is planned on 30 March and 6 April.

This course is sold out. Alternatively, check out these courses for experienced improvisers: Familiar & Strange on Tuesday (also by Laura), Rich Characters, Rich Scenes on Wednesday, or Radical Positivity on Monday.
