Make any scene badass!
You have the choice to play one of these scenes.
- You drink a cup of coffee, you drop the spoon, you pick up the spoon, the scene continues.
- Or: You drink a cup of coffee. You drop the spoon, and in slow motion, you dive toward it. Then—just as the spoon hits the floor—a drop of coffee splashes into your eye. The pain is terrible, and you begin to fall, moving slowly toward the ground. But with a final, desperate grab, you catch the spoon in mid-air. You land on the floor, one arm reaching up to the sky. Everyone can see your heroic act: you have saved the spoon.
Which scene would you like to play?
Exactly.
In this course, we will dive into the skills needed for epic action moments in day-to-day situations. And then play them with full vigor.
You will learn how to use your body, make the mundane exciting, fight with what you have in the environment, use your fingers as puppets, chase someone in a small space, stretch your creativity, and even defy gravity. And look cool while doing so.
This course is designed for performers who have at least a few years of improv, theatre or dance experience. Expect to jump, move, climb, fight, freeze, flee, fly and basically… kick ass.
The teacher is me, Laura, and I have been performing, directing and teaching improvised action scenes since 2013. I will bring everything I learned from the 2 action shows I created and traveled with: all-women action epic The Ferocious Four, and the recent action-packed Flock main stage production The Matrix.
The subscription to this course is for 12 weeks, and can be paid in 1 payment, 2 installments or included as part of the Adventurer and Trail Blazer memberships.
