New at Flock Theatre: an improvisation course, just with people of color.
In a group of supportive players, we will discover what type of improv makes our heart beat faster. We will foster curiosity about each other’s backgrounds and liberate ourselves from popular western media.
Which characters were we raised with? What subjects do we love talking about? Which stories matter to us?
Teacher of this course is me, Tanine Dunais, and I have always played on stage with westerners. I have never even improvised in my mother tongue. This makes me curious to explore improv from a different lens.
What would the story be if it was written by (people like) me? How can I bring something from my culture? And: what does my mind need to open up, or to feel safe?
We will explore all of this, and more, while finding joy and delight in improvising theatre.
