Audition Bloodline

The next production of Flock Theatre will be ‘Bloodline’ directed by Jenny Hasenack. We will hold auditions for actors and musicians on 2 separate days in December. Pick the one that fits you!

About this production

Bloodline’ will be an improvised theatre show about monarchs and kingdoms, about power and control – and about losing it all in the blink of an eye. We will dive into ceremonies and rituals, the symbols that make a ruler, as well as what happens if we truly let go of the unwritten rules. We will see diplomacy and betrayal, romance and scandal, and of course – the crown.

For this production, we are looking for 3-5 actors and 1-3 musicians.

The actors will improvise the scenes on stage, and the musician(s) will improvise the music for the play. These 2 groups of players plus the techs will inspire each other, listen to each other, and build on each other’s ideas to bring the show to life.

About Flock Theatre Productions

Flock Theatre productions are shows where we cast players for a weekend of shows in a particular genre. The cast will rehearse for approx. 3 months on Wednesday mornings, led by the director (Jenny).

The Flock Theatre style of shows is theatrical. We love making theatrical improv that makes audiences feel something. We commit to the work and find joy in geeking about this art form.

Previous Flock Theatre productions included The Matrix, Transperceneige, The True North, I Will Survive, Operations. Relations. Complications. and Skin Hunger.

What will happen in the audition?

In this audition, participants are invited to join the exercises and scene setups that the director (Jenny) will offer. No need to prepare, just show up (on time :)).

Actors will be given scenes to improvise and musicians will be invited to score scenes.

Our auditions are intended to be a pleasant experience (and participants agree), where you actually learn something, get to know Flock Theatre, and have a good time.

Within a few days after the last audition, the performers who got selected will get an invitation. Once accepted, the other improvisers from the audition will be informed as well.

The auditions will take place in the Flock Treehouse, which we can make wheelchair-accessible by adding a ramp. ♿ Just let us know, as well as any other accessibility needs you might have.

Who can audition?

For the actors: anyone with some experience in improvising or acting.

For the musicians: anyone who knows their instrument well. Historical instruments, like the lute, the harpsichord or the flute are especially invited.

We love meeting new faces, unexpected talents, and a diversity of players. 👩🏾‍🦱👩‍🦽🧕🏽🌈👳🏻‍♂️🦾🦻🧠🤶 (Yes, we have cast players that we met at the audition for the first time.)

Once cast, all performers are asked to do research, homework and/or promotion of the show (which includes postering, flyering, as well as giving visibility online and in your own networks). This will take max. 0,5-1 hour a week, and is usually considered fun to do. If you take part in the audition, you agree that -when cast- you will make time for this.

This is our main production of spring 2024 and we expect a professional attitude from our performers in things like punctuality, communication, and commitment to the work.

Does it cost anything?

Taking part in the audition is free of charge. And as this is not a course but a production, there is no course fee involved.

Flock Theatre is striving to professionalize the field of improvised theatre through different means including the payment of the people involved in the productions. At this stage and for this project though, no pay can be guaranteed for the actors, musicians, technicians, directors or producers of this production.
